Jehoshaphat Reigns Well in Judah

1Jehoshaphat his son succeeded him as king and strengthened himself against Israel.1Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place and strengthened himself against Israel.1Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm.1And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.1His son Jehoshaphat became king in his place and strengthened himself against Israel.

3The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals3The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals,3The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David's earlier days and did not seek the Baals,3And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;3Now the LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the former ways of his father David. 5The LORD established the kingdom under his control; and all Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, so that he had great wealth and honor.5Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.5So the LORD established the kingdom in his control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.5Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.5So the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. 6His heart was devoted to the ways of the LORD; furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.6His heart was courageous in the ways of the LORD. And furthermore, he took the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.6He took great pride in the ways of the LORD and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.6And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.6His mind rejoiced in the LORD's ways, and he again removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.
7In the third year of his reign he sent his officials Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah to teach in the towns of Judah.7In the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;7Then in the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;7Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.7In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials--Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah--to teach in the cities of Judah.
8With them were certain Levites--Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tob-Adonijah--and the priests Elishama and Jehoram.8and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah; and with these Levites, the priests Elishama and Jehoram.8and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.8And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.8The Levites with them were Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah; the priests, Elishama and Jehoram, were with these Levites.
9They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the Book of the Law of the LORD; they went around to all the towns of Judah and taught the people.9And they taught in Judah, having the Book of the Law of the LORD with them. 10The fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands surrounding Judah, so that they did not go to war against Jehoshaphat.10And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.10Now the dread of the LORD was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.10And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.10The terror of the LORD was on all the kingdoms of the lands that surrounded Judah, so they didn't fight against Jehoshaphat.
11Some Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and silver as tribute, and the Arabs brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred goats.11Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute, and the Arabians also brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats.11Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.11Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.11Some of the Philistines also brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat, and the Arabs brought him flocks: 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.
12Jehoshaphat became more and more powerful; he built forts and store cities in Judah12And Jehoshaphat grew steadily greater. He built in Judah fortresses and store cities,12So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.12And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.12Jehoshaphat grew stronger and stronger. 14Their enrollment by families was as follows: From Judah, commanders of units of 1,000: Adnah the commander, with 300,000 fighting men;14This was the muster of them by fathers’ houses: Of Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, with 300,000 mighty men of valor;14This was their muster according to their fathers' households: of Judah, commanders of thousands, Adnah was the commander, and with him 300,000 valiant warriors;14And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.14These are their numbers according to their ancestral families. For Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander and 300,000 brave warriors with him;

17From Benjamin: Eliada, a valiant soldier, with 200,000 men armed with bows and shields;17Of Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, with 200,000 men armed with bow and shield;17and of Benjamin, Eliada a valiant warrior, and with him 200,000 armed with bow and shield;17And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.17from Benjamin, Eliada, a brave warrior, and 200,000 with him armed with bow and shield;
18next, Jehozabad, with 180,000 men armed for battle.18and next to him Jehozabad with 180,000 armed for war.18and next to him Jehozabad, and with him 180,000 equipped for war.18And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.18next to him, Jehozabad and 180,000 with him equipped for war.
19These were the men who served the king, besides those he stationed in the fortified cities throughout Judah.19These were in the service of the king, besides those whom the king had placed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.19These are they who served the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortified cities through all Judah.19These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.19These were the ones who served the king, besides those he stationed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
