The Capture of Rabbah
(2 Samuel 12:26–31)

1And it happened, at the time of the return of the year, at the time of the going out of the kings, that Joab led out the force of the host and destroyed the land of the sons of Ammon, and he came in and besieged Rabbah. And David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab defeated Rabbah and overthrew it.

2And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and he found it to weigh a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones, and it was on the head of David. And the plunder of the city he brought out in great abundance.

3And the people who were in it he brought out, and they sawed with the saws, and with the iron picks, and with the axes. Thus David did to all the cities of the sons of Ammon. And David returned, and all the people, to Jerusalem.

(2 Samuel 21:15–22)

4And it came to pass afterward that war broke out in Gezer with the Philistines. At that time Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Sippai of the sons of the Rephaim, and they were subdued.

5And there was again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, and the shaft of his spear was was like a beam of a weaver.

6And there was again war in Gath, where there was a man of stature with digits six and six—twenty-four. And he was born also of Rapha. 7And he defied Israel, and killed him Jonathan son of Shimea brother of David.

8These were born of Rapha in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
