Psalm 138

A Thankful Heart

1Of David.

1 I give You praise with all of my heart;

before the gods I sing Your praises.

2I bow down toward the temple of Your holiness,

and I give thanks to Your name

for Your loving devotion, and for Your faithfulness;

for You have magnified above all

Your name and Your word.

3On the day I called out, then You answered me;

You embolden me in my soul with strength.

4O YHWH, all the kings of the earth will give You thanks

when they hear the words of Your mouth.

5And they will sing of the ways of YHWH:

For great is the glory of YHWH!

6For YHWH is on high,

and the lowly one He sees,

and the haughty He knows from afar.

7When I walk in the midst of distress,

You revive me against the anger of my enemies;

You stretch out Your hand,

and Your right hand saves me.

8May YHWH complete this

on my behalf!

O YHWH, Your loving devotion is forever;

do not forsake the works of Your hands!

Footnotes:

3 Or You emboldened and strengthened my soul
