Good News Translation
"When you make an altar for the LORD your God, do not put beside it a wooden symbol of the goddess Asherah.

You shall not plant any tree as a sacred pole beside the altar that you make for the LORD your God;

When you build the altar for offering sacrifices to the LORD your God, don't set up a sacred pole for the worship of the goddess Asherah.
