1Then Solomon began to build the temple of the LORD at Jerusalem in Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to David, his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebusite.
2He began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.
3Now these are the specifics in which Solomon was instructed for the building of the temple of God. The length in cubits was sixty cubits (90 feet), and the breadth twenty cubits (30 feet).
4And the length of the porch that was in the front of the house, in accordance with the breadth of the house, twenty cubits (30 feet), and its height was a hundred twenty cubits (180 feet); and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
5And the main room of the house he lined with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and decorated it with palm trees and chains.
6And he adorned the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.
7He also overlaid the house, its beams, its posts, its walls, and its doors with gold; and carved cherubim on the walls.
8And he made the most holy house (the Holy of Holies): its length was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits (30 feet), and its breadth twenty cubits (30 feet); and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents (40,000 pounds).
9And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels (3,300 pounds) of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.
10And in this Holy of Holies house he made two cherubim of wood, and overlaid them with gold.
11The wing span of the two cherubim was (30 feet); one wing of the one cherub was five cubits (7½ feet), reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.
12And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.
13The wings of these cherubim spread themselves forth twenty cubits (30 feet); and they stood on their feet, and faced inward.
14And he made the veil of blue, purple, and crimson, and fine linen, with cherubim embroidered on it.
15Also he made before the house two pillars thirty-five cubits (45 feet) high, and the capital on the top of each of them was five cubits (7½ feet).
16And he made chains, as in the inner sanctuary, and put them on the tops of the pillars; and made a hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.
17And he erected the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand, “Jachin” (he shall establish); and the name of that on the left, “Boaz” (in it is strength).
