1In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the fall of the city (Jerusalem), on that very same day, the hand of the LORD was upon me, and took me there. 2In the visions of God, He brought me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, from which I could see to the south a structure that looked like a city. 3He took me there, and, I saw there a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze, with a line (cord) of flax in his hand, and a measuring rod (reed); and he stood in the gate. 4And the man said to me, “Son of man, observe with your eyes, and your ears, and take to your heart all that I shall show you; for that is why you were brought here - that I might show these things to you. Report to the people of Israel all that you see.

5And I saw a wall surrounding the Temple area, and in the man's hand a measuring rod six cubits and a handbreadth (9½ feet) long; so he measured the breadth of the building, one rod (9½ feet), and the height, one rod (9½ feet). 6Then he came to the gate which faces east, and went up its steps, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one rod broad; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one rod broad. 7And every little chamber (alcove for the guards) was one rod long, and one rod broad; and the distance between the little chambers were five cubits (7½ feet); and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed (9½ feet). 8He also measured the porch (portico / vestibule) of the gate on the inside, one reed. 9Then he measured the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and its posts, two cubits; and the porch (portico) of the gate inside. 10And there were three little chambers on each side of the gateway passage; and they were all of the same size; and the posts on either side were the same size. 11And he measured the width of the entrance of the gate, ten cubits (15 feet); and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits (19½ feet). 12There was a wall in front of the little chambers which was one cubit thick; and the little chambers were six cubits square. 13 Then he measured the gateway from the top of one little chamber to the top of another; the width was twenty- five cubits (37½ feet), door to door. 14He also measured the distance between posts of threescore cubits (90 feet), even to the next post all around the courtyard. 15And the distance from the entrance of the gate to the far end of the porch (portico) was fifty cubits (75 feet). 16And there were narrow windows in the walls of the little chambers, and their openings faced inward; and windows were round about inside; and each post was decorated with palm trees.

17Then he brought me into the outer court, and, there were more chambers, and a pavement made for the court round about; thirty rooms (chambers) were along the pavement. 18And the pavement abutted the sides of the gates and was as wide as it was long. 19Then he measured the width from the front of the lower gate to the front of the inner court on the outer side, a hundred cubits (150 feet) eastward and northward. 20Then he measured the length and width of the north gate leading to the outer court. 21And its alcoves (little chambers) - three on each side; and its posts and its arches were the same as measurements of the first gate: its length was fifty cubits, and its width was twenty- five cubits. 22And their windows, arches, and palm trees were the same as the gate that looks toward the east; and seven steps went up to it; with its portico opposite them. 23And the gate of the inner court was opposite the north gate, just as there was toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate a hundred cubits. 24Then he brought me to the south side, and I saw a gate toward the south; and he measured its pillars and portico, which measured the same as the other.

Both the gateway and its porticos had windows all around, like the other windows; and its features measured exactly the same as the others.

25And there were windows in it and in its arches round about, like those windows; the length was fifty cubits, and the width twenty- five cubits. 26And seven steps led up to it, and its arches were before them; and it had palm tree decorations, one on each side, along its dividing walls. 27 The inner court also had a gate facing south, and he measured from this gate to the outer gate on the south side; it was a hundred cubits. 28And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate; and he measured the south gate; it had the same measurements as the others. 29And its alcoves, its projecting walls and its portico had the same measurements as the others. The gateway and its portico had openings all around. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 30And the arches around the inner court were twenty-five cubits long, and five cubits broad. 31And its portico faced the outer court; palm trees decorated its jambs, and eight steps led up to it. 32And he brought me into the inner court toward the east; and he measured the gate. It had the same measurements as the others. 33 Its alcoves, its projecting walls and its portico had the same measurements as the others. The gateway and its portico had openings all around. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide. 34And its portico faced the outer court; palm trees decorated the jambs on either side, and eight steps led up to it. 35And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it. It had the same measurements as the others, 36Its guard alcoves, dividing walls, and entry room of this gateway had the same measurements as in the others and the same window arrangements. The length of the gateway passage was fifty cubits, and the width twenty-five cubits. 37 Its portico faced the outer court; palm trees decorated the jambs on either side, and eight steps led up to it. 38And A door led from the entry room of one of the inner gateways into a side room, where the meat for sacrifices was washed. 39In the portico of the gateway were two tables on each side, on which the burnt offerings, sin offerings and guilt offerings were slaughtered. 40And by the outside wall of the portico of the gateway, near the steps at the entrance of the north gateway were two tables, and on the other side of the steps were two tables. 41So there were four tables on one side of the gateway and four on the other - eight tables in all - on which the sacrifices were slaughtered. 42There were also four tables of dressed stone for the burnt offerings, each a cubit and a half long, a cubit and a half wide and a cubit high. On them were placed the utensils for slaughtering the burnt offerings and the other sacrifices. 43And double-pronged hooks, each a handbreadth long, were attached to the wall all around. The tables were for the flesh of the offerings. 44Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two rooms, one at the side of the north gate and facing south, and another at the side of the south gate and facing north. 45And he said to me, “The room facing south is for the priests who guard the temple, 46And and the room facing north is for the priests who guard the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who are the only Levites who may draw near to the LORD to minister before Him.” 47So he measured the court: It was square—a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide. And the altar was in front of the temple. 48And he brought me to the portico of the temple and measured the jambs of the portico; they were five cubits wide on either side. The width of the entrance was fourteen cubits and its projecting walls were three cubits wide on either side. 49The portico was twenty cubits wide, and twelve cubits from front to back. It was reached by a flight of stairs, and there were pillars on each side of the jambs.
