5And God saw that the wickedness of man on the earth was great, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was continually evil. 6And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. 7And the LORD said, “I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth - both man, and animal, and the creeping thing, and the birds of the air; for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the LORD.

9These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and blameless among the people of his time, and Noah walked faithfully with God. 10And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11The inhabitants of the earth had become corrupt and the earth was filled with violence. 12And God saw how depraved the earth had become - that all the people upon the earth had corrupted their ways. 13And God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy everyone living on earth, for they have filled the earth with violence. I will destroy them along with the earth!

14Make an ark of gopher (cypress) wood; you shall make rooms in the ark, and shall coat it with pitch both inside and out. 15And this is how you shall build it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits (450 feet), the breadth of it fifty cubits (75 feet), and its height shall be thirty cubits (45 feet). 16Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit (18 inches) high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 17And I shall bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy everything under heaven that has the breath of life in it; and everything on earth shall die. 18But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall enter the ark - you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. 19And you shall bring into the ark two of every sort, male and female, of every living creature, to be kept alive with you. 20Of every kind of bird, and every kind of animal, of every kind of creeping thing of the earth - two of every kind shall come to you, to keep them alive. 21And take to you all of the food that they will eat; you shall gather food for you, and for them.” 22And Noah did; according to all that God commanded him.
