5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said to God, “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body have You prepared for Me; 6You have had no pleasure in burnt offerings and sin offerings”. 7Then I (Christ) said, “Look, I have come to do Your will, O God, as it is written of Me in the scroll of the book (Scripture)”. 8First, when He said, “Sacrifice and burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You neither desired nor had pleasure in; although they are required by the law of Moses”, 9Then He said, “Here I am, come to do Your will, O God”. (Ps.40:7-8) He takes away the first covenant, that He may establish the second; 10For the will of God was for us to be sanctified through the offering (sacrifice) of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Day after day, the priest stands and performs his religious duties. Again and again offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; 12But when this Man (Christ), had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, He sat down at the right hand of God, 13And now He waits until His enemies are made His footstool. 14For by one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those that are sanctified (redeemed and made holy). 15And the Holy Spirit is also a witness to us about this; for after He had said, 16“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them, 17And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more” (Jer. 31:33-34). 18And where forgiveness for sin is, there is no need for more offerings for sin.

19Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus, 20By a new and life-giving way through the veil, which He has opened for us, that is to say, His body, 21And since we have a High Priest over the house of God, 22Let us draw near to God with a true (sincere) heart with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from an guilty conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold firmly to our profession of faith in God, without wavering for He Who promised is faithful and can be trusted. 24And so, let us consider how we can encourage one another toward love and good deeds, 25Not neglecting assembling together, as some have done; but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the Day of His return approaching.

26But if we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for those sins, 27But only a fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall consume the enemies of God. 28Anyone that despised and rejected Moses' law died without mercy under the testimony of two or three witnesses; 29How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, and has treated the blood of the covenant, with which they were sanctified, like an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30For we know Him who has said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay” (Deut.32:35), says the Lord. And again, “The Lord shall judge His people” (Deut.32:36). 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32But remember those earlier days, after you were enlightened, when you remained faithful during a great suffering, 33Sometimes you were made a brunt of both ridicule and persecutions; at other times, you sided with those that were so treated. 34You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. 35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36For you must persevere with patience, so that, after you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. 37For in just a little while, He shall come, and will not delay. 38And My righteous ones shall live by faith; but I will take no pleasure in anyone who shrinks back. 39But we are not like those who shrink back and perish, but like those who believe and whose souls are saved.
