Isaiah 11

1And there shall come forth a Shoot out of the stump of the family of Jesse, and a new Branch shall grow out of his roots, bearing fruit; 2And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him - the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD, 3And He shall delight in obeying the LORD; and He shall not judge by what He sees with His eyes, nor by what His ears hear, 4But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and decide with justice for the meek of the earth. He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. 5Righteousness shall be His belt, and faithfulness the sash around His waist. 6The wolf also shall live in peace with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat; and the calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion; and a little child shall lead them. 7And the cow and the bear shall feed together; their young ones shall lie down together. And the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8And the infant shall play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child shall put his hand in the deadly snakes’ den without harm. 9They shall neither harm nor destroy in all My holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, like water fills the sea. 10And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, the heir of David’s throne, Who shall stand like an ensign for the peoples; to Him shall the nations rally; and His resting place shall be glorious.

11In that day the LORD shall reach out His hand a second time to reclaim the remnant of His people from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12And He shall raise a banner for the nations, and shall gather the exiles of Israel, and the scattered people of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 13Ephraim’s jealousy shall vanish, and Judah’s enemies shall be destroyed; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and nor shall Judah be hostile toward Ephraim. 14But they shall swoop down on the Philistines to the west; together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east. They shall subdue Edom and Moab; and the Ammonites shall be subject to them. 15And the LORD shall utterly dry up the Egyptian sea; and with His mighty wind shall He sweep His hand over the Euphrates River, and break it up into seven streams, so that anyone can cross over them in dry sandals. 16And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people that are left from Assyria, as there was for Israel in the day when they came up out of the land of Egypt.
