1At that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that he had been sick, and had recovered.
2And Hezekiah received the envoys with gladness, and showed them the storehouse of his precious things, the silver, gold, spices, and precious ointment, and his entire armory, and that was in his treasuries; there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not show them.
3Then Isaiah, the prophet, came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? And where did they come from?” And Hezekiah said, “They have come to me from a distant country, from Babylon”.
4Then Isaiah said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Hezekiah answered, “All that is in my house they have seen; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them”.
5Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD Almighty:
6‘Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored there until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left’, says the LORD.
7And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, who shall be born to you, shall they carry away; and they shall become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
