Job 27

1Moreover, Job continued his discourse, saying, 2“As surely as God lives, He has denied me justice; and the Almighty has vexed my soul. 3As long as there is breath in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils, 4My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit. 5 I will never concede that you (Job’s so-called “comforters”) are right; I will defend my integrity until I die. 6I will maintain my innocence, and never let go of it; my conscience shall not reproach (accuse) me as long as I live.

7Let my enemy be as the wicked, and he that rises up against me as the unrighteous. 8For what hope does a godless man have, in spite of his gains, when God takes away his life? 9Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him? 10Will he delight in the Almighty? Will he ever call upon God?

11I will teach you about the power of God; I will not conceal the ways of the Almighty. 12Behold, you have all seen it yourselves; so why, then, all this foolish talk? 13This is the lot of a wicked man with God, and the heritage that oppressors shall receive from the Almighty. 14If his children are multiplied, it is only for the sword; and his descendants shall not have enough bread. 15Those that remain of him shall die of pestilence; and their widows shall not weep. 16Though he piles up silver like dust, and prepare garments as plentiful as clay; 17He may prepare them, but the just shall wear them, and the innocent shall divide his silver. 18He house he builds is as temporary as a spider’s web. 19He shall lie down as a rich man, but when he opens his eyes, all is gone. 20Terrors overtake him as a flood, a storm carries him away in the night. 21The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; and like a storm, it hurls him out of his place. 22For it unrelentingly blasts upon him; while he tries to escape it power. 23Men shall clap their hands and ridicule him, as he flees from his place.”
