1And when Jabin, king of Hazor, heard of this, he sent to Jobab, king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph, 2And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and on the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor to the west, 3To the Canaanite to the east and west, to the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah. 4And they went out with all their armies, men as numerous as the sand on the sea shore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots. 5And when all these kings had joined forces, they came and encamped at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel. 6And the LORD said to Joshua, “Have no fear of them; for about this time tomorrow I will deliver them, all slain before Israel: you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots.” 7So Joshua and all his men of war came and attacked them suddenly, by the waters of Merom. 8And the LORD delivered them into their hand, and they killed many, and chased the rest to great Sidon, and to Misrephoth-maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward; where they slew them until there were none remaining. 9And Joshua did to them as the LORD said - he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots.

10And then Joshua turned back, and captured Hazor, and killed its king with the sword; for Hazor had been the head of all those kingdoms. 11And they killed all that were there with the sword, leaving none still breathing; there were no survivors: and he set fire and burned Hazor. 12And Joshua captured all the cities of those kings, along with their kings, and slew them with swords, utterly destroying them, as Moses, the servant of the LORD, had commanded. 13But none of the other cities that Joshua captured did Israel burn, except for Hazor. 14And Israel took all the spoil of those cities, as well as the cattle and the children; but every man they killed with the sword until none were left to breathe. 15As the LORD commanded Moses, His servant, Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did accordingly; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.

16So Joshua conquered all that region - the hills, all the Negev (south country), all the land of Goshen, the valley, plain, and the mountains and valleys of Israel, the Galilean foothills, 17From Mount Halak, that rises toward Seir, to Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon; and he captured all their kings, and killed them. 18Joshua waged war with all those kings for a long time. 19There was not a city that made a peace treaty with the children of Israel, except for the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon; all others were taken in battle. 20For it was of the LORD Who harden their hearts, so that they would come against Israel in battle, that he (Joshua) might utterly destroy them, and have no favor, but be destroyed, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

21And at that time Joshua came, and cut off the Anakim (a race of giants) from the mountains: from Hebron, Debir, Anab, from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel; Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities. 22There were none of the Anakim left in the land of the Israelites, except in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod, some remained there.

23So Joshua took the entire land, just as the LORD had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. And the land rested from war.
