1Now when Joshua had grown old, the LORD said to him, “You are very old, and yet there is very much land to be possessed.
2This is the land that yet remains to be possessed: all the lands of the Philistines, and the Geshurites,
3From the Shihor river, which is east of Egypt, to the borders of Ekron on the north, which is counted as Canaanite, though five lords of the Philistines - the Gazites, Ashdodites, Ashkelonites, Gittites, and the Ekronites, as well as the territory of Avvim (Avvites);
4From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah (Arah) of the Sidonians, to Aphek and the borders of the Amorites:
5And the land of the Gebalites, and all of Lebanon, toward the east, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to the entrance into Hamath.
6And as for the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, and all the Sidonians, those I will drive out from before the children of Israel; so be sure to divide it by lot to the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.
7Now divide this land for an inheritance among the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
8The other half having received their inheritance with the Reubenites and Gadites, which Moses gave them, east of the Jordan:
9From Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the river, and all the plain of Medeba to Dibon;
10And all the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the Ammonites;
11And Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salecah;
12All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, who are the remnants of the giants; for these did Moses attack, and drive out.
13However, the children of Israel did not expel the Geshurites, nor the Maacathites; but they dwell among the Israelites until this day.
14Only to the tribe of Levi he (Moses) gave no inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as He said to them.
15And Moses gave to the tribe of Reuben inheritance according to their families.
16And their border was from Aroer, on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city in the middle of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
17Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon, Bamoth-baal, Beth-baal-meon,
18Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
19Kiri-ath-aim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar in the mount of the valley,
20Beth-peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth-jeshimoth,
21All the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses defeated along with the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, who were leaders of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
22Balaam also, the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among those who were slain.
23And the border of the children of Reuben was the banks of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities, and their villages.
24And Moses gave inheritance to the tribe of Gad, the children of Gad, according to their families.
25And their border was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites, to Aroer that is before Rabbah;
26And from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir;
27And in the valley, Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon, king of Heshbon, the Jordan and its border, to the edge of the Sea of Chinnereth on the east side of the Jordan.
28This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
29And Moses gave inheritance to the half tribe of Manasseh; and this was the possession of that half tribe of Manasseh by their families.
30And their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og, king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities:
31And half of Gilead, Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, went to the children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
32These are the countries which Moses gave for their inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the east side of the Jordan, across from Jericho.
