1This, then, was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families: to the border of Edom, the wilderness of Zin southward was the farthest part of the south border. 2And their south border was from the shore of the Salt (Dead) Sea, from the bay that looks southward; 3And it went out to the south side of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended on the south side to Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and turned about to Karka: 4From there it passed toward Azmon, and went out to the river of Egypt; and the end of that border was at the sea: this shall be your southern border. 5And the east border was the Salt Sea, to the mouth of the Jordan. And their northern boundary began at the bay of the Dead Sea at the mouth of the Jordan.

6And the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; then border went up to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben; 7And the border continued toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and northward, going toward Gilgal, that is before going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river; and then the border passed toward the waters of En-shemesh, and the end of it was at En-rogel; 8And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the south side of the Jebusite; which is Jerusalem; and then went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the valley of Hinnom westward, at the end of the valley of the giants northward; 9And the border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the towns of Mount Ephron; and its border extended to Baalah, which is Kiriath-jearim; 10And the border curved from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and passed along to the side of Mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and continued on to Timnah; 11And then it went northward out to the side of Ekron; and it extended to Shikkeron, and along to Mount Baalah, and went on to Jabneel; and the end of the border was at the sea. 12And the west border was to the Great (Mediterranean) Sea, and its shore line. This is the border of the children of Judah according to their families.

13And to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he gave a portion among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba, the father of Anak, which city is Hebron. 14And Caleb drove the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak out from there. 15And he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir; and the name of Debir had been Kiriath-sepher. 16And Caleb said, “He that attacks and takes Kiriath-sepher, to him will I give Achsah, my daughter, in marriage”. 17And Othniel, the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it, and he gave Achsah, his daughter, to him in marriage. 18And as she came to him, she moved him to ask her father for a field; and she alighted from her donkey. And Caleb asked her, “What would you like?” 19And she answered, “Give me a blessing; for you have given me the south land. Give me also springs of water”. And he gave her the upper springs, and the lower springs.
