Mark 11

1And as they neared Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples on ahead, 2And said to them, “Go to the village ahead of you; and as soon as you enter it, you shall find a colt tied, which no one has ever ridden; untie it, and bring it here. 3And if any man asks you, ‘Why are you doing that?’, say that the Lord has need of him; and he will promptly send it here”. 4And they went and found the colt tied by the door outside of a place where two roads met; and they untied him. 5And some of those that stood there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” 6And they answered them as Jesus had said; and the people let them go. 7And they brought the colt to Jesus, and threw their garments upon him; and Jesus sat upon him. 8And many others spread their garments in the roadway; while others cut down branches off the trees, and spread them in the road. 9And those that went before, and those that followed, cried, saying, “Hosanna! Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord; 10Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!”

11And Jesus entered Jerusalem, and went into the temple; and when He had looked around at everything, but since evening had come, He went out to Bethany with the twelve. 12And on the next day, when they had come from Bethany, Jesus was hungry; 13And seeing a fig tree in the distance, He went to see if He might find any figs on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves; for it was yet the season for figs. 14And Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit of you hereafter”. And His disciples heard Him say it.

15And upon entering Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple, and began to drive out those that sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of those that sold doves; 16And would not allow any man to carry any merchandise through the temple. 17And He taught them, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called by all nations the house of prayer?’ But you have made it a den of thieves”. 18And the scribes and chief priests heard this, and began looking for a way to kill Him; for they felt threatened by Him, because all the people were amazed at His teaching. 19And when came, He and His disciples went out of the city.

20And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered and dried up from the roots. 21And Peter remembered, and said to Him, “Master, look, that fig tree that You cursed has withered away”. 22And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. 23For truly I tell you, whoever shall say to this mountain, ‘Be you removed, and be thrown into the sea; and does not doubt, but shall believe in his heart that those things which he says shall happen; whatever he says shall happen. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them. 25And when you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive; that your Father, Who is in heaven, may also forgive you your trespasses. 26But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

27And they again arrived in Jerusalem; and as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and elders there came to Him, 28And asked Him, “By what authority do You do these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?” 29And Jesus replied, “I will also ask one question of you, and answer My question; and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30The baptism of John - was it from heaven, or of men? Answer Me”. 31And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we shall say, ‘From heaven’; He will say, ‘Why, then, did you not believe him?’ 32But if we shall say, ‘Of men’; they feared the people; for all men considered John to be a prophet indeed. 33And so they answered Jesus, “We cannot tell”. And then Jesus answered them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
