2And after six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain alone by themselves; and there He was transfigured before them. 3And His clothes became dazzling white like snow, like no launderer on earth could whiten them. 4And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses; and they talked with Jesus. 5And Peter responded by saying to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three booths; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”. 6For he did not know what to say; for they were stunned at what they saw. 7And then a cloud overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud that said, “This is My beloved Son; hear Him”. 8And suddenly, when they had looked around, they no longer saw anyone except Jesus and themselves. 9And as they came down from the mountain, He ordered that they should tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man has risen from the dead. 10And they kept the matter to themselves, asking each other what ‘rising from the dead’ meant.

11And they asked Him, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 12And He replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected (treated with contempt)? 13But I tell you, that Elijah has indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they wished, just as it is written of him”.

14And when they returned to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and the scribes were question them. 15And as soon as they saw Him, they were filled with wonder and ran to greet Him. 16And He asked the scribes, “What are you questioning them about?” 17And a man in the crowd answered, “Master, I had brought to You my son, who has an evil spirit that has made him mute; 18And wherever the demon takes him, he throws him to the ground; foams at the mouth, and gnashes with his teeth, and becomes rigid; and I asked Your disciples to drive the demon out; but they could not”. 19He replied, “O faithless generation, how long shall I stay and put up with you? Bring him to Me”. 20And so they brought him to Jesus; and when the demon saw Him, it immediately convulsed the boy; and he fell to the ground, wallowing and foaming. 21And Jesus asked his father, “How long ago is it been since this came upon him?” And he said, “As a child. 22And often it has cast him into the fire, or into water, to destroy him; but if You can do anything, have mercy upon us, and help us”. 23Jesus said to him, “’If I can?!’ All things are possible to him that believes.” 24And the father of the child instantly cried out, with tears, “Lord, I believe; help me to overcome my unbelief”. 25When Jesus saw that a crowd of onlookers was running to the scene, He rebuked the foul spirit, saying to him, “You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him, and never more enter into him”. 26And the demon shrieked, and convulsed him violently, and came out of him; leaving the boy as one dead; so much so that many said, “He is dead”. 27But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him to his feet; and he stood up. 28And after He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast him out?” 29And He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting.”

30And they left there, and passed through Galilee; and He did not want anyone to know where they were, 31Because He was teaching His disciples, and He said to them, “The Son of man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him; and after He is killed, He shall rise the on third day”. 32But they did not understand what He was telling them, and were afraid to ask Him.

33And they came to Capernaum; and when were in the house, He asked them, “What was it that you arguing among yourselves about along the way?” 34But they did not answer, because they had disputed among themselves about who would be the greatest. 35And He sat down, and called the twelve, and said to them, “If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.” 36And He took a little child, and set him in their midst; and when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37“Whoever shall receive (welcome) one such child in My name, receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me, but Him that sent Me.”

38And John answered Him, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and he was not one of us; and we told him to stop, because he follows not us.” 39But Jesus said, “Do not stop him; for there is no man who does a miracle in My name, that can lightly speak evil of Me. 40For he that is not against us is for us. 41For whoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, I tell you truly, he shall not lose his reward.

42And whoever shall offend (or cause to stumble) one of these little ones that believe in Me, it would be better for him if a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. 43And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to go through life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, where the fire shall never be quenched; 44Where their worm never dies, and the fire is not quenched. 45And if your foot so offends, cut it off; it is better for you to go through life lame, than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that is never quenched; 46Where their worm never dies, and the fire is not quenched. 47And if your eye so offends, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire; 48Where their worm never dies, and the fire is not quenched. 49For every one shall be salted (tested) with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness, how can you restore its saltness? Have salt among yourselves, and have peace with each other.”
