1And when Jesus had finished these sayings, He left Galilee, and came into the region of Judaea, east of Jordan river; 2And great crowds followed Him; and He healed them there.

3Some Pharisees then came to test Him, and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every reason?” 4And He answered them, “Have you not read that He Who made them at the beginning made them male and female”, 5And said, “For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall unite with his wife; and they two shall become one flesh?” 6Therefore they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7Then they asked Him, “Why, then, did Moses command to give a writing (certificate) of divorce, and send her away?” 8He answered, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it was not so. 9And I say to you, “Whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication (sexual immorality), and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced is committing adultery.” 10His disciples said to Him, “If this is the case of the man and his wife, it is better not to marry.” 11But He replied, “All men cannot receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. 12For there are some eunuchs who were born that way; and there are some who were made eunuchs by men; and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. Those that can accept it, let them accept it.”

13Then people brought little children to Him, for Him to put His hands on them, and pray for them; but the disciples rebuked them. 14But Jesus said, “Let the little children come, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15And when had He placed His hands on them, He went on from there.

16And then someone came and asked Him, “Good Master, what good deed must I do, to attain eternal life?” 17And He replied, “Why do you ask Me about what is good? There is no one good but one, that is, God; but if you wish to enter eternal life, keep the commandments.” 18He asked Him, “Which ones?” Then Jesus said: “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness (give false testimony), 19Honor your father and mother; and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20The young man said to Him, “All these things have I kept from my youth up; what else do I yet lack?” 21Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell whatever you possess, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow Me.” 22But when the young man heard that, he went away sorrowful; because he had great wealth.

23Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, that it is difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24And again I say to you, ‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 25When His disciples heard that, they were exceedingly astonished, and asked, “Who then can be saved?” 26But Jesus looked at them, and said, “With men this is impossible; but with God, all things are possible.”

27Then Peter answered Him, “Look, we have left (forsaken) all, and followed You; what, then, shall there be for us?” 28And Jesus said, “Truly I say to you who have followed Me, in the regeneration (renewal of things), when the Son of man shall sit on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29And every one that has forsaken houses, or family (brothers, sisters, father, mother, wife, children, or lands), for My names sake, shall receive a hundredfold (a hundred times as much), and shall inherit eternal life. 30But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
