The End Times
(Revelation 1:1–3)

1And at that time shal Michael stand vp, ye great prince, which standeth for ye children of thy people, & there shall be a time of trouble, such as neuer was since there began to be a nation vnto that same time: and at that time thy people shal be deliuered, euery one that shal be foud written in ye boke. 2And many of them that sleepe in the dust of the earth, shall awake, some to euerlasting life, and some to shame and perpetuall contempt. 3And they that be wise, shal shine, as ye brightnes of the firmament: and they that turne many to righteousnes, shal shine as the starres, for euer & euer. 4But thou, O Daniel, shut vp the words, and seale the boke til the end of the time: many shal run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

5Then I Daniel loked, & behold, there stood other two, ye one on this side of ye brinke of ye riuer, & the other on that side of ye brinke of the riuer. 6And one saide vnto the man clothed in linen, which was vpon ye waters of the riuer, When shalbe the ende of these wonders? 7And I heard ye man clothed in line which was vpon the waters of the riuer, when he helde vp his right hand, & his left hand vnto heauen, & sware by him that liueth for euer, that it shall tarie for a time, two times & an halfe: & when he shal haue accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. 8The I heard it, but I vnderstood it not: the said I, O my Lord, what shalbe ye end of these things? 9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for ye words are closed vp, and sealed, till the ende of the time. 10Many shalbe purified, made white, & tried: but the wicked shall doe wickedly, and none of the wicked shall haue vnderstanding: but the wise shall vnderstand. 11And fro the time that the daily sacrifice shalbe take away & the abominable desolatio set vp, there shalbe a thousand, two hundreth & ninetie daies. 12Blessed is he that waiteth & commeth to the thousand, three hundreth & fiue & thirtie daies. 13But go thou thy way til ye end be: for thou shalt rest & stand vp in thy lot, at ye end of ye daies.(13:1) There dwelt a man in Babylon called Ioacim,(13:2) And hee tooke a wife, whose name was Susanna, the daughter of Helcias, a very faire woman, & one that feared God.(13:3) Her father and her mother also were godly people, and taught their daughter according to the Law of Moyses.(13:4) Now Ioacim was a great rich man, and had a faire garden ioyning vnto his house, and to him resorted the Iewes, because he was more honourable then all others.(13:5) The same yeere were appoynted two of the ancientes of the people to be Iudges, such as the Lord speaketh of, that the iniquitie came from Babylon, and from the ancient Iudges, which seemed to rule the people.(13:6) These haunted Ioacims house, and all such as had any thing to doe in the Lawe, came thither) vnto them.(13:7) Nowe when the people departed away at noone, Susanna went into her husbandes garden to walke.(13:8) And the two Elders sawe her that shee went in dayly and walked, so that their lust was inflamed towarde her.(13:9) Therefore they turned away their minde, & cast downe their eyes, that they should not see heauen, nor remember iust iudgements.(13:10) And albeit they both were wounded with her loue, yet durst not one shew another his griefe.(13:11) For they were ashamed to declare their lust, that they desired to haue to do with her.(13:12) Yet they watched diligently from day to day to see her.(13:13) And the one sayde to the other, Let vs goe now home, for it is dinner time.(13:14) So they went their way, & departed, one fro another: yet they returned againe, and came into the same place, and after that they had asked one another the cause, they acknowledged their lust: then appoynted they a time both together when they might finde her alone.(13:15) Now when they had spyed out a conuenient time, that shee went in, as her maner was, with two maydes onely, and thought to wash her selfe in the garden (for it was an hote season)(13:16) And there was no body there, saue the two Elders that had hid themselues, & watched for her:(13:17) She sayde to her maydes, Bring me oyle and sope, & shut the garde doores, that I may wash me.(13:18) And they did as she bade them, and shut the garden doores, and went out themselues at a backe doore, to set the thing that she had comanded the: but they saw not the Elders, because they were hid.(13:19) Now when the maydes were gone forth, the two Elders rose vp and ranne vnto her, saying.(13:20) Beholde, the garden doores are shut, that no man can see vs, and wee burne in loue with thee: therefore consent vnto vs, and lye with vs.(13:21) If thou wilt not, we wil beare witnes against thee, that a yong man was with thee, and therefore thou diddest send away thy maydes from thee.(13:22) Then Susanna sighed, & said, I am in trouble on euery side: for if I do this thing, it is death vnto me: & if I do it not, I cannot escape your handes.(13:23) It is better for me to fal into your handes, & not do it, then to sinne in the sight of the Lord.(13:24) With that Susanna cried with a loude voice, and the two Elders cryed out against her.(13:25) Then ranne the one, and opened the garden doore.(13:26) So when the seruantes of the house heard the cry in the garden, they rushed in at the backe doore, to see what was done vnto her.(13:27) But whe the Elders had declared their matter, the seruants were greatly ashamed: for there was neuer such a report made of Susanna.(13:28) On the morowe after, came the people to Ioacim her husband, and the two Elders came also, full of mischieuous imagination against Susanna, to put her to death,(13:29) And sayd before the people, Send for Susanna the daughter of Helcias Ioacims wife; immediately they sent.(13:30) So she came with her father and mother, her children and all her kinred.(13:31) Nowe Susanna was very tender, and fayre of face.(13:32) And these wicked men commanded to vncouer her face (for she was couered) that they might so be satisfied with her beautie.(13:33) Therefore they that were about her, and all they that knew her, wept.(13:34) Then the two Elders stood vp in the middes of the people, & layde their handes vpon her head,(13:35) Which wept and looked vp toward heauen: for her heart trusted in the Lord.(13:36) And the Elders said, As we walked in the garden alone, she came in with two maydes, whom she sent away from her, and shut the garden doores.(13:37) Then a yong man, which there was hid, come vnto her, and lay with her.(13:38) Then we which stood in a corner of the garden, seeing this wickednes, ranne vnto them, & we saw them as they were together,(13:39) But wee coulde not holde him: for he wasstronger then we, & opened ye doore, & leaped out.(13:40) Nowe when we had taken this woman, wee asked her what yong man this was, but she woulde not tell vs: of these things are we witnesses.(13:41) Then the assemblie beleeued them, as those that were the Elders and iudges of the people: so they condemned her to death.(13:42) Then Susanna cried out with a loude voyce, and said, O euerlasting God, that knowest the secretes, and knowest all things afore they come to passe,(13:43) Thou knowest, that they haue borne false witnesse against me, and behold, I must die, whereas I neuer did such things as these men haue maliciously inuented against me.(13:44) And the Lord heard her voyce.(13:45) Therefore when she was led to be put to death, the Lorde raised vp the holy spirit of a yong childe, whose name was Daniel.(13:46) Who cried with a loude voyce, I am cleane from the blood of this woman.(13:47) Then all the people turned them towarde him, and sayde, What meane these wordes, that thou hast spoken?(13:48) Then Daniel stoode in the middes of them, and sayd, Are ye such fooles, O Israelites, that without examination, or knowledge of the trueth, yee haue condemned a daughter of Israel?(13:49) Returne againe to iudgement: for they haue borne false witnesse against her.(13:50) Wherefore the people turned againe in all haste, and the Elders said vnto him, Come, sit down among vs, and shewe it vs, seeing God hath giuen thee the office of an Elder.(13:51) Then saide Daniel vnto them, Put these two aside, one farre from another, and I will examine them.(13:52) So when they were put asunder, one from another, he called one of them and sayde vnto him, O thou that art olde in a wicked life, nowe thy sinnes which thou hast committed aforetime, are come to light.(13:53) For thou hast pronounced false iudgements, and hast condemned the innocent, and hast let the guiltie goe free, albeit the Lord faith, The innocent and righteous shalt thou not slay.(13:54) Now then, if thou hast seene her, tell me, vnder what tree sawest thou them companying together? Who answered, Vnder a lentiske tree.(13:55) Then sayde Daniel, Verely thou hast lyed against thine owne head: for loe, the Angel of God hath receiued ye sentence of God, to cut thee in two.(13:56) So put he him aside, and comanded to bring the other, and said vnto him, O thou seede of Chanaan, and not of Iuda, beautie hath deceiued thee, and lust hath subuerted thine heart.(13:57) Thus haue yee dealt with the daughters of Israel, and they for feare companied with you: but the daughter of Iuda woulde not abide your wickednesse.(13:58) Nowe therefore tell mee, vnder what tree diddest thou take the companying together? Who answered, Vnder a prime tree.(13:59) Then said Daniel vnto him, Verely thou hast also lied against thine head: for the Angel of God waiteth with the sworde to cut thee in two, and so to destroy you both.(13:60) With that all the whole assembly cryed with a loude voyce, and praysed God, which saueth them that trust in him.(13:61) And they arose against the two Elders, (for Daniel had conuict them of false witnesse by their owne mouth)(13:62) And according to the Law of Moyses they dealt with them, as they dealt wickedly against their neighbour, and put them to death. Thus the innocent blood was saued the same day.(13:63) Therefore Helcias, and his wife praised God for their daughter Susanna, with Ioacim her husband, and all the kinred, that there was no dishonestie found in her.(13:64) From that day forth was Daniel had in great reputation in the sight of the people.(13:65) And king Astyages was laid with his fathers, and Cyrus of Persia reigned in his steade. (14:1) Nowe when King Astyages was laide with his fathers, Cyrus the Persian receiued his kingdome.(14:2) And Daniel did eat at the kings table, and was honoured aboue all his friendes.(14:3) Nowe the Babylonians had an idole, called Bel, and there were spent vpon him euery day, twelue great measures of fine floure, and fourtie sheepe, and sixe great pots of wine.(14:4) And the king worshipped it, and went dayly to honor it: But Daniel worshipped his owne God; the king saide vnto him, Why doest not thou worship Bel?(14:5) Who answered, and sayde, Because I may not worshippe idoles made with handes, but the liuing God, which hath created the heauen and the earth, and hath power vpon all flesh.(14:6) Then saide the king vnto him, Thinkest thou not that Bel is a liuing God? seest thou not howe much he eateth and drinketh euery day?(14:7) Then Daniel smiled and sayde, O king, be not deceiued: for this is but clay within, and brasse without, and did neuer eate any thing.(14:8) So the king was wroth, and called for his Priestes, and sayde vnto them, If yee tell me not, who this is that eateth vp these expences, ye shall die:(14:9) But if ye can certifie me that Bel eateth them, then Daniel shal die: for he hath spoken blasphemy against Bel; Daniel sayde vnto the king, Let it be according to thy word.(14:10) (Nowe the Priestes of Bel were threescore and ten, beside their wiues and children:) and the king went with Daniel into the temple of Bel.(14:11) So Bels Priests saide, Behold, we will go out, and set thou the meate there, O king, and let the wine be filled: then shut the doore fast, and seale it with thine owne signet:(14:12) And to morowe when thou commest in, if thou findest not that Bel hath eaten vp all, we will suffer death, or els Daniel that hath lied vpon vs.(14:13) Nowe they thought themselues sure inough: for vnder ye table they had made a priuy entrance, and there went they in euer, and tooke away the things.(14:14) So when they were gone forth, the king set meates before Bel. Nowe Daniel had commaunded his seruants to bring ashes, and these they strowed throughout all the Temple, in the presence of the king alone: then went they out, and shut the doore, and sealed it with the kings signet, and so departed.(14:15) Nowe in the night came ye Priests, with their wiues and children, (as they were wont to do) and did eate and drinke vp all.(14:16) In the morning betimes, the king arose and Daniel with him.(14:17) And the king said, Daniel, are ye seales whole? Who answered, Yea, O king, they be whole.(14:18) And assoone as hee had opened the doore, the king looked vpon the table, and cryed with a loude voyce, Great art thou, O Bel, and with thee is no deceite.(14:19) Then laughed Daniel, and helde the king that he shoulde not goe in, and sayd, Beholde nowe the pauement, and marke well whose footesteppes are these.(14:20) And the king sayde, I see the footesteppes of men, women, and children: therefore the king was angrie,(14:21) And tooke the Priests, with their wiues, and children, and they shewed him the priuie doores, where they came in, and consumed such things as were vpon the table.(14:22) Therefore the king slewe them, and deliuered Bel into Daniels power, who destroied him and his temple.(14:23) Moreouer in that same place there was a great Dragon, which the Babylonians worshipped.(14:24) And the king said vnto Daniel, Sayest thou, that this is of brasse also? loe, he liueth and eateth and drinketh, so that thou canst not say, that hee is no liuing god: therefore worship him.(14:25) Then saide Daniel vnto the king, I will worship the Lord my God: for he is the liuing God.(14:26) But giue me leaue, O king, and I wil slay this Dragon without sword or staffe; the king said, I giue thee leaue.(14:27) Then Daniel tooke pitch, and fat, and heare, and did seethe the together, and made lumps thereof: this hee put in the Dragons mouth, and so the Dragon burst in sunder; Daniel sayd, Beholde, whom ye worship.(14:28) When the Babylonians heard it, they were wonderfull wroth, and gathered them together against the king, saying, The king is become a Iewe for he hath destroyed Bel, and hath slayne the Dragon, and put the Priests to death.(14:29) So they came to the king, and sayde, Deliuer vs Daniel, or else wee will destroy thee and thine house.(14:30) Nowe when the king sawe, that they preassed sore vpon him, and that necessitie constreined him, he deliuered Daniel vnto them:(14:31) Who cast him into the Lyons denne, where he was sixe dayes.(14:32) In the denne there were seuen Lyons, and they had giuen them euery day two bodies and two sheepe, which then were not giuen them, to the intent that they might deuoure Daniel.(14:33) Now there was in Iewrie a Prophet called Abbacuc, which had made pottage, and broken bread into a bowle, and was going into the fielde for to bring it to the reapers.(14:34) But the Angel of the Lord saide vnto Abbacuc, Goe, cary the meate that thou hast, into Babylon vnto Daniel, which is in the Lyons denne.(14:35) And Abbacuc said, Lord, I neuer sawe Babylon, neither doe I knowe where the denne is.(14:36) Then the Angel tooke him by the crowne of the head, and bare him by the heare of the head, and through a mightie winde set him in Babylon vpon the denne.(14:37) And Abbacuc cried, saying, O Daniel, Daniel, take the dinner that God hath sent thee.(14:38) Then said Daniel, O God, thou hast thought vpon mee, and thou neuer failest them that seeke thee and loue thee.(14:39) So Daniel arose, and did eate, and the Angel of the Lorde set Abbacuc in his owne place againe immediatly.(14:40) Vpon the seuenth day, the king went to bewaile Daniel: and when hee came to the denne, he looked in, and beholde, Daniel sate in the middes of the Lyons. (14:41) Then cried the king with a loude voyce, saying, Great art thou, O Lorde God of Daniel, and there is none other besides thee.(14:42) And he drew him out of the denne, and cast them that were the cause of his destruction into the denne, & they were deuoured in a moment before his face.
