A Call to Prayer

1Moreover, first of all things, I exhort you, that prayers, supplications, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made in behalf of all men; 2for kings and all who are in authority; in order that we may lead a peaceable and quiet life in all godliness and honesty. 3This is beautiful and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4who wishes all men to be saved, and to come to the perfect knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God, and there is also one mediator of God and men, the man, Christ Jesus, 6the one having given himself a ransom for all, a testimony in due time; 7in which I have been placed a herald and an apostle I speak the truth, I lie not, a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and in truth.

8Therefore I wish that men in every place would all pray, holding up holy hands, without wrath and doubting:

Instructions to Women

9likewise that the women adorn themselves in comely apparel, with modesty and prudence; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly garments; 10but whatsoever becomes women professing godliness, through good works. 11Let a woman learn in silence in all submission; 12but I do not permit a woman to dictate or usurp authority over her husband, but to be in silence. 13For Adam was first created, then Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression; 15but she shall be saved through child-bearing, if they may abide in faith and in divine love and in sanctification with prudence.
