For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved my distress; show me grace and hear my prayer.1To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
How long, O men, will my honor be maligned? How long will you love vanity and seek after lies? Selah2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
Be angry, yet do not sin; on your bed, search your heart and be still. Selah4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Many ask, “Who can show us the good?” Shine the light of Your face upon us, O LORD.6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
You have filled my heart with more joy than when grain and new wine abound.7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
