For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved my distress; show me grace and hear my prayer.1For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David. Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long, O men, will my honor be maligned? How long will you love vanity and seek after lies? Selah2How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.3Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.
Be angry, yet do not sin; on your bed, search your heart and be still. Selah4Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.5Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.
Many ask, “Who can show us the good?” Shine the light of Your face upon us, O LORD.6Many, LORD, are asking, "Who will bring us prosperity?" Let the light of your face shine on us.
You have filled my heart with more joy than when grain and new wine abound.7Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
