Song of Solomon 4
ESV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionKing James Bible
Behold, you are beautiful, my love, behold, you are beautiful! Your eyes are doves behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats leaping down the slopes of Gilead.1Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.
Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes that have come up from the washing, all of which bear twins, and not one among them has lost its young.2Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.
Your lips are like a scarlet thread, and your mouth is lovely. Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate behind your veil.3Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.
Your neck is like the tower of David, built in rows of stone; on it hang a thousand shields, all of them shields of warriors.4Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle, that graze among the lilies.5Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.
Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, I will go away to the mountain of myrrh and the hill of frankincense.6Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.7Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
Come with me from Lebanon, my bride; come with me from Lebanon. Depart from the peak of Amana, from the peak of Senir and Hermon, from the dens of lions, from the mountains of leopards.8Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards.
You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.9Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.
How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than any spice!10How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!
Your lips drip nectar, my bride; honey and milk are under your tongue; the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.11Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.
A garden locked is my sister, my bride, a spring locked, a fountain sealed.12A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.
Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates with all choicest fruits, henna with nard,13Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard,
nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense, myrrh and aloes, with all choice spices—14Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:
a garden fountain, a well of living water, and flowing streams from Lebanon.15A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.
Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choicest fruits.16Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
