Psalm 106
HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. 1Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Who can declare the LORD's mighty acts or proclaim all the praise due Him? 2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise?
How happy are those who uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times. 3Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
Remember me, LORD, when You show favor to Your people. Come to me with Your salvation 4Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them,
so that I may enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones, rejoice in the joy of Your nation, and boast about Your heritage. 5that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.
Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have done wrong and have acted wickedly. 6Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.
Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp the significance of Your wonderful works or remember Your many acts of faithful love; instead, they rebelled by the sea--the Red Sea. 7Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
Yet He saved them because of His name, to make His power known. 8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power.
He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; He led them through the depths as through a desert. 9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert.
He saved them from the hand of the adversary; He redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 10So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.
Water covered their foes; not one of them remained. 11And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left.
Then they believed His promises and sang His praise. 12Then they believed his words; they sang his praise.
They soon forgot His works and would not wait for His counsel. 13But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.
They were seized with craving in the wilderness and tested God in the desert. 14But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;
He gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them. 15he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them.
In the camp they were envious of Moses and of Aaron, the LORD's holy one. 16When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD,
The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it covered the assembly of Abiram. 17the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Fire blazed throughout their assembly; flames consumed the wicked. 18Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped the cast metal image. 19They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image.
They exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating ox. 20They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt, 21They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt,
wonderful works in the land of Ham, awe-inspiring acts at the Red Sea. 22wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
So He said He would have destroyed them-- if Moses His chosen one had not stood before Him in the breach to turn His wrath away from destroying them. 23Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.
They despised the pleasant land and did not believe His promise. 24Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise.
They grumbled in their tents and did not listen to the LORD's voice. 25They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the LORD.
So He raised His hand against them with an oath that He would make them fall in the desert 26Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
and would disperse their descendants among the nations, scattering them throughout the lands. 27and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands.
They aligned themselves with Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods. 28Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead;
They provoked the LORD with their deeds, and a plague broke out against them. 29they provoked the LORD to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.
But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped. 30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed.
It was credited to him as righteousness throughout all generations to come. 31And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever.
They angered the LORD at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them; 32They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,
for they embittered his spirit, and he spoke rashly with his lips. 33for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips.
They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them 34They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them,
but mingled with the nations and adopted their ways. 35but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did.
They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 36They served their idols, which became a snare to them.
They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. 37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons;
They shed innocent blood-- the blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; so the land became polluted with blood. 38they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.
They defiled themselves by their actions and prostituted themselves by their deeds. 39Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.
Therefore the LORD's anger burned against His people, and He abhorred His own inheritance. 40Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;
He handed them over to the nations; those who hated them ruled them. 41he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under their power. 42Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power.
He rescued them many times, but they continued to rebel deliberately and were beaten down by their sin. 43Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity.
When He heard their cry, He took note of their distress, 44Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry.
remembered His covenant with them, and relented according to the riches of His faithful love. 45For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
He caused them to be pitied before all their captors. 46He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive.
Save us, Yahweh our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to Your holy name and rejoice in Your praise. 47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.
May Yahweh, the God of Israel, be praised from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Hallelujah! 48Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the LORD!
