For this reason I, Paul, am the prisoner of the Messiah Jesus for the sake of you gentiles. 1For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
Surely you have heard about the responsibility of administering God's grace that was given to me on your behalf, 2If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
and how this secret was made known to me through a revelation, just as I wrote about briefly in the past. 3How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
By reading this, you will be able to grasp my understanding of the secret about the Messiah,4Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
which in previous generations was not made known to human beings as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. This is that secret:5Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
The gentiles are heirs-in-common, members-in-common of the body, and common participants in what was promised by the Messiah Jesus through the gospel.6That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
I have become a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God's grace that was given me by the working of his power. 7Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
To me, the very least of all the saints, this grace was given so that I might proclaim to the gentiles the immeasurable wealth of the Messiah8Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
and help everyone see how this secret that has been at work was hidden for ages by God, who created all things. 9And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
He did this so that now, through the church, the wisdom of God in all its variety might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realm 10To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
in keeping with the eternal purpose that God carried out through the Messiah Jesus our Lord, 11According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
in whom we have boldness and confident access through his faithfulness.12In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
So then, I ask you not to become discouraged because of my troubles on your behalf, which work toward your glory.13Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
This is the reason I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah,14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth receives its name. 15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
I pray that he would give you, according to his glorious riches, strength in your inner being and power through his Spirit, 16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
and that the Messiah would make his home in your hearts through faith. Then, having been rooted and grounded in love, 17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
you will be able to understand, along with all the saints, what is wide, long, high, and deep— 18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
that is, you will know the love of the Messiah — which transcends knowledge, and will be filled with all the fullness of God.19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Now to the one who can do infinitely more than all we can ask or imagine according to the power that is working among us— 20Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
to him be glory in the church and in the Messiah Jesus to all generations, forever and ever! Amen.21Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
