NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
And the word of the LORD came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, saying,1In the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me:
"Son of man, write the name of the day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.2“Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.
"Speak a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Put on the pot, put it on and also pour water in it;3And utter a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: “Set on the pot, set it on; pour in water also;
Put in it the pieces, Every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; Fill it with choice bones.4put in it the pieces of meat, all the good pieces, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with choice bones.
"Take the choicest of the flock, And also pile wood under the pot. Make it boil vigorously. Also seethe its bones in it."5Take the choicest one of the flock; pile the logs under it; boil it well; seethe also its bones in it.
'Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, "Woe to the bloody city, To the pot in which there is rust And whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, Without making a choice.6“Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose corrosion is in it, and whose corrosion has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice.
"For her blood is in her midst; She placed it on the bare rock; She did not pour it on the ground To cover it with dust.7For the blood she has shed is in her midst; she put it on the bare rock; she did not pour it out on the ground to cover it with dust.
"That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on the bare rock, That it may not be covered."8To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered.
'Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, "Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.9Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.
"Heap on the wood, kindle the fire, Boil the flesh well And mix in the spices, And let the bones be burned.10Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil the meat well, mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned up.
"Then set it empty on its coals So that it may be hot And its bronze may glow And its filthiness may be melted in it, Its rust consumed.11Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, that its uncleanness may be melted in it, its corrosion consumed.
"She has wearied Me with toil, Yet her great rust has not gone from her; Let her rust be in the fire!12She has wearied herself with toil; its abundant corrosion does not go out of it. Into the fire with its corrosion!
"In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I would have cleansed you, Yet you are not clean, You will not be cleansed from your filthiness again Until I have spent My wrath on you.13On account of your unclean lewdness, because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your uncleanness, you shall not be cleansed anymore till I have satisfied my fury upon you.
"I, the LORD, have spoken; it is coming and I will act. I will not relent, and I will not pity and I will not be sorry; according to your ways and according to your deeds I will judge you," declares the Lord GOD.'"14I am the LORD. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; I will not spare; I will not relent; according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the Lord GOD.”
And the word of the LORD came to me saying,15The word of the LORD came to me:
"Son of man, behold, I am about to take from you the desire of your eyes with a blow; but you shall not mourn and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not come.16“Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep, nor shall your tears run down.
"Groan silently; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban and put your shoes on your feet, and do not cover your mustache and do not eat the bread of men."17Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.”
So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And in the morning I did as I was commanded.18So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died. And on the next morning I did as I was commanded.
The people said to me, "Will you not tell us what these things that you are doing mean for us?"19And the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are acting thus?”
Then I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me saying,20Then I said to them, “The word of the LORD came to me:
'Speak to the house of Israel, "Thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I am about to profane My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes and the delight of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind will fall by the sword.21‘Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the yearning of your soul, and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.
You will do as I have done; you will not cover your mustache and you will not eat the bread of men.22And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
'Your turbans will be on your heads and your shoes on your feet. You will not mourn and you will not weep, but you will rot away in your iniquities and you will groan to one another.23Your turbans shall be on your heads and your shoes on your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but you shall rot away in your iniquities and groan to one another.
'Thus Ezekiel will be a sign to you; according to all that he has done you will do; when it comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.'"24Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.’
As for you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their pride, the desire of their eyes and their heart's delight, their sons and their daughters,25“As for you, son of man, surely on the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes and their soul’s desire, and also their sons and daughters,
that on that day he who escapes will come to you with information for your ears?26on that day a fugitive will come to you to report to you the news.
'On that day your mouth will be opened to him who escaped, and you will speak and be mute no longer. Thus you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.'"27On that day your mouth will be opened to the fugitive, and you shall speak and be no longer mute. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.”
