Psalm 97
New American Standard Bible 1995King James Bible
The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; Let the many islands be glad.1The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.2Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
Fire goes before Him And burns up His adversaries round about.3A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
His lightnings lit up the world; The earth saw and trembled.4His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.5The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The heavens declare His righteousness, And all the peoples have seen His glory.6The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
Let all those be ashamed who serve graven images, Who boast themselves of idols; Worship Him, all you gods.7Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
Zion heard this and was glad, And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced Because of Your judgments, O LORD.8Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.
For You are the LORD Most High over all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods.9For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
Hate evil, you who love the LORD, Who preserves the souls of His godly ones; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.10Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown like seed for the righteous And gladness for the upright in heart.11Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones, And give thanks to His holy name.12Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
