New International VersionBerean Study Bible
For the director of music. A psalm of David. Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Blessed is the one who cares for the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of trouble.
The LORD protects and preserves them-- they are counted among the blessed in the land-- he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.2The LORD will protect and preserve him; He will bless him in the land and refuse to surrender him to the will of his foes.
The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.3The LORD will sustain him on his bed of illness and restore him from his bed of sickness.
I said, "Have mercy on me, LORD; heal me, for I have sinned against you."4I said, “O LORD, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against You.”
My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?"5My enemies say with malice: “When will he die and be forgotten?”
When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it around.6My visitor speaks falsehood; he gathers slander in his heart; he goes out and spreads it abroad.
All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,7All who hate me whisper against me; they imagine the worst for me:
"A vile disease has afflicted him; he will never get up from the place where he lies."8“A vile disease has been poured into him; he will never get up from where he lies!”
Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.9Even my close friend whom I trusted, the one who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But may you have mercy on me, LORD; raise me up, that I may repay them.10But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them.
I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.11By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.12In my integrity You uphold me and set me in Your presence forever.
Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.13Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
