| 1And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. | 1When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom. |

| 6However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. | 6However, we do speak a wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. |
| 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, | 7On the contrary, we speak God's hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory. |
| 8which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. | 8None of the rulers of this age knew this wisdom, for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. |
| 9But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” | 9But as it is written: What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind-- God prepared this for those who love Him. |
| 10But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. | 10Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. |
| 11For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. | 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? | 14But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. | 14But the unbeliever does not welcome what comes from God's Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually. |
| 15But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. | 15The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone. |
