New King James VersionKing James Bible
A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, O LORD, Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.1A Prayer of David. Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
Let my vindication come from Your presence; Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright.2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
Concerning the works of men, By the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip.5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them.7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.9From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
They have closed up their fat hearts; With their mouths they speak proudly.10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
They have now surrounded us in our steps; They have set their eyes, crouching down to the earth,11They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
As a lion is eager to tear his prey, And like a young lion lurking in secret places.12Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
Arise, O LORD, Confront him, cast him down; Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword,13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
With Your hand from men, O LORD, From men of the world who have their portion in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure. They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.14From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
