Psalm 129
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
1A Song of Ascents. “Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth,” Let Israel now say—1From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me. Let all Israel repeat this:
2“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth; Yet they have not prevailed against me.2From my earliest youth my enemies have persecuted me, but they have never defeated me.
3The plowers plowed on my back; They made their furrows long.”3My back is covered with cuts, as if a farmer had plowed long furrows.
4The LORD is righteous; He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.4But the LORD is good; he has cut me free from the ropes of the ungodly.
5Let all those who hate Zion Be put to shame and turned back.5May all who hate Jerusalem be turned back in shameful defeat.
6Let them be as the grass on the housetops, Which withers before it grows up,6May they be as useless as grass on a rooftop, turning yellow when only half grown,
7With which the reaper does not fill his hand, Nor he who binds sheaves, his arms.7ignored by the harvester, despised by the binder.
8Neither let those who pass by them say, “The blessing of the LORD be upon you; We bless you in the name of the LORD!”8And may those who pass by refuse to give them this blessing: “The LORD bless you; we bless you in the LORD’s name.”
