Psalm 50
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, Has spoken and called the earth From the rising of the sun to its going down.1The LORD, the Mighty One, is God, and he has spoken; he has summoned all humanity from where the sun rises to where it sets.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth.2From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines in glorious radiance.
Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.3Our God approaches, and he is not silent. Fire devours everything in his way, and a great storm rages around him.
He shall call to the heavens from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people:4He calls on the heavens above and earth below to witness the judgment of his people.
“Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”5“Bring my faithful people to me— those who made a covenant with me by giving sacrifices.”
Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge. Selah6Then let the heavens proclaim his justice, for God himself will be the judge. Interlude
“Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you; I am God, your God!7“O my people, listen as I speak. Here are my charges against you, O Israel: I am God, your God!
I will not rebuke you for your sacrifices Or your burnt offerings, Which are continually before Me.8I have no complaint about your sacrifices or the burnt offerings you constantly offer.
I will not take a bull from your house, Nor goats out of your folds.9But I do not need the bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens.
For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.10For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.11I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine.
“If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.12If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats?13Do I eat the meat of bulls? Do I drink the blood of goats?
Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.14Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High.
Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”15Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”
But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth,16But God says to the wicked: “Why bother reciting my decrees and pretending to obey my covenant?
Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you?17For you refuse my discipline and treat my words like trash.
When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers.18When you see thieves, you approve of them, and you spend your time with adulterers.
You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit.19Your mouth is filled with wickedness, and your tongue is full of lies.
You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.20You sit around and slander your brother— your own mother’s son.
These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you, And set them in order before your eyes.21While you did all this, I remained silent, and you thought I didn’t care. But now I will rebuke you, listing all my charges against you.
“Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver:22Repent, all of you who forget me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you.
Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”23But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
