Psalm 52
NLT Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationNew American Standard Bible 1995
1Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?1For the choir director. A Maskil of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul and said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God endures all day long.
2All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies.2Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, O worker of deceit.
3You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. Interlude3You love evil more than good, Falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah.
4You love to destroy others with your words, you liar!4You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.
5But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and uproot you from the land of the living. Interlude5But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.
6The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say,6The righteous will see and fear, And will laugh at him, saying,
7“Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.”7"Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire."
8But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.8But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.
9I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people.9I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.
