The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him. Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but an accurate weight is His delight. A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the faithless destroys them. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.
Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. Riches are worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness brings deliverance from death. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness. The righteousness of the blameless directs their path, but the wicked fall by their own wickedness. The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.
The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires. The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the faithless are trapped by their own desires. The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are taken captive by their lust.
Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing. When the wicked man dies, his hope perishes, and the hope of his strength vanishes. When the wicked dies, his hope will perish, and the expectation of wealth perishes too.
The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead. The righteous man is delivered from trouble; in his place the wicked man goes in. The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead.
With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors, but through knowledge the righteous escape. With his mouth the ungodly man destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous are rescued. With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.
When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. When the righteous thrive, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.
Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed. By the blessing of the upright a city is built up, but by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down. By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown.
Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue. Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks judgment, but a man of understanding remains silent. Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. A gossip reveals a secret, but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence. Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers. For lack of guidance, a nation falls, but with many counselors comes deliverance. Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe. He who puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but the one who hates indebtedness is secure. Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure.
A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth. A gracious woman attains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth. A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches.
Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves. A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself. A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.
A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. The wicked man earns an empty wage, but he who sows righteousness reaps a true reward. The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.
Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death. Genuine righteousness leads to life, but the pursuit of evil brings death. Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.
The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless. The perverse in heart are an abomination to the LORD, but the blameless in their walk are His delight. Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD, but those of blameless ways are his delight.
Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free. Be assured that the wicked will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape. Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion. Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath. The desire of the righteous leads only to good, but the hope of the wicked brings wrath. The desire of the righteous ends only in good, the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor. One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. A generous soul will prosper, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
People curse the one who hoards grain, but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell. The people will curse the hoarder of grain, but blessing will crown the one who sells it. The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it.
Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it. He who searches out good finds favor, but evil will come to him who seeks it. Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it.
Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like foliage. Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.
Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise. He who brings trouble on his house will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.
If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner! If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner! If the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
