1 After these things there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these were lying a multitude of those ailing, blind, lame, and withered. 5 And a certain man was there, being thirty and eight years in his ailment. 6 Jesus, having seen this one lying and having known that he has been a long time already, says to him, “Do you want to become well?” 7 The one ailing answered Him, “Sir, I do not have a man, that when the water might be stirred, he might put me into the pool; and while I am going, another goes down before me.” 8 Jesus says to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.” 9 And immediately the man became well, and he took up his mat and was walking.
