Daniel 12

1And at that time the (angel) Michael, the great prince who protects your people, shall stand up. There shall be a time of trouble, such as has never been since there were nations until then; and at that time your people shall be rescued - every one whose name is found written in the book. 2And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awaken, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3And those that are wise shall shine like the brightness of the heavens; and those that turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

4But you, O Daniel, roll up and seal the words of this book, until the time of the end. Many shall run here and there, and knowledge shall increase.

5Then I, Daniel, looked, and, behold, there stood two others, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on the opposite river bank. 6And one of them said to the Man clothed in linen, Who was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be until these astonishing wonders are fulfilled (shocking events are over)? 7And the Man above the waters, clothed in linen raised both His right and left hand toward heaven; and I heard Him swear by Him Who lives forever, that It shall be for a time, times, and a half (3½ years); and when the power of the holy people has been finally broken (the persecution of God’s saints appears to have eradicated all believers), all these things will be completed.8I heard what He said, but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my Lord, what shall be the outcome of all these things?” 9And He said, Go your way, Daniel; because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10Many shall be purified, and made spotless, tested, and refined, but the wicked shall continue to do wickedly. None of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand (neither the signs of the times as prophesied here, nor the cleansing effect of these trials). 11‘From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there shall be a thousand, two hundred ninety days. 12Blessed is he who waits, and perseveres to the end of that thousand, three hundred thirty-five day period.’ 13But go your way until the end; for you shall rest, and then, at the end of the days, you shall rise to receive your inheritance set aside for you.
