1And Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel: 2“I am now a hundred twenty years old; I can no longer lead you. The LORD has also said to me, You shall not cross the Jordan. 3The LORD your God, Himself, will go over before you, and He will destroy the nations living there, and you shall possess their land; and Joshua shall lead you, as the LORD has said. 4And the LORD shall do to them as He did to Sihon and Og, kings of the Amorites, whom He destroyed. 6Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of them; for It is the LORD your God, Who goes with you; He will not fail, nor forsake you.”

7And Moses summoned Joshua, and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous; for you must go with this people into the land which the LORD has promised their fathers to give them; and you shall divide the land among them as their inheritance. 8And the LORD, Himself, shall go before you. He will be with you; He will not fail you, nor forsake you. Do not fear, nor be dismayed.”

9And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the Ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Israel. 10And Moses commanded them, “At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of Release (Jubilee), during the Festival of Tabernacles, 11When all Israel has come to appear before the LORD your God in the place that He shall choose, you shall read this law in the hearing of all Israel. 12Gather the people together - men, women, children, and the sojourner that is among your - so that they may hear, learn, revere and obey the LORD your God, and all the words of this law; 13So that their children, who have not known this law, may hear, and learn to honor and revere the LORD your God, as long as you live in the land which you are going over the Jordan to possess.”

14And then the LORD said to Moses, The day of your death has come. Call Joshua, and present yourselves at the Tabernacle of meeting, so that I may give commission him. And so, Moses and Joshua came and presented themselves at the Tabernacle of meeting. 15And the LORD appeared at the Tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud; and the pillar of the cloud stood over the entrance of the Tabernacle.

16And the LORD said to Moses, You shall rest with your ancestors; and when these people enter the land, they will soon break the covenant I have made with them, and forsake Me to pursue the strange gods that the pagans in the land worship. 17And then I shall be angry and withdraw from them. I will hide my face from them, and they shall know destruction, as many disasters and calamities befall them; and then they will finally ask themselves, ‘Have these troubles not come upon us because our God is not with us?’ 18And I will surely hide My face in that day because of all the evil deeds they shall have done, when they have turned to strange gods. 19So write this song, and teach it to the Israelites; and have them sing it to help them remember it as an enduring witness for Me against them. 20For when I shall have brought them into the land which I promised to their fathers, that flows with milk and honey; and they have eaten and satisfied themselves, and grown fat, that is when they will turn to and serve strange gods, breaking My covenant with them, and provoking My anger,. 21And then, when many disasters and calamities have befallen them, this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall be remembered even by their descendants. I know their inclination even now, before I have brought them into the land which I promised them on oath. 22So Moses wrote down this song that day, and taught it to the Israelites.

23And God commissioned Joshua, son of Nun, with these words: Be strong and of good courage; for you must bring the Israelites into the land that I promised to them: and I will be with you.

24And when Moses had finished writing the words of this law in a book - from beginning to end - 25Moses gave this command to the Levites, who carried the Ark of the covenant of the LORD: 26“Take this book of the law, and put it beside the Ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, so that it may remain as a witness against the people of Israel. 27For I know how rebellious and stubborn they are: if they have been rebellious against the LORD while I am yet alive and with you, how much more after my death! 28Assemble all the tribe elders and officers before me, so that I may speak these words to them, and call upon heaven and earth to testify against them. 29For I know that after my death, you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and will turn from the way I have commanded you to follow; and disaster will surely result in the latter days; because you will do evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking His anger by what you have made with your own hands.”

30And then Moses recited the words of this song, in the hearing of all the congregation of Israel, from beginning to end:
