1Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song unto the LORD, “I will sing unto the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider He has thrown into the sea. 2The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will prepare Him a habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt Him. 3The LORD is a Man of war; the LORD is His name.”

Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. 5The depths have covered them; they sank to the bottom like a stone. 6Your right hand, O LORD, was majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy. 7And in the greatness of Your excellency, You have overthrown those that rose against You. You sent out Your wrath, which consumed them as stubble. 8And with the blast of Your nostrils the waters were piled up, the surging floods stood upright like a heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. 9The enemy boasted, ‘I will pursue and overtake them; I will divide the spoil and satisfy my lust for blood upon them. I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’ 10But then You blew with Your breath; the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.”

11Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? 12You stretched out Your right hand, the earth swallowed them. 13You, in Your mercy, have led out the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength unto Your holy habitation. 14The nations shall hear; and fear and sorrow shall grip the inhabitants of Philistia. 15Then the chiefs of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab will tremble; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. 16Fear and dread shall fall upon them. By the greatness of Your arm, they shall be as still as a stone; till Your people pass over, O LORD, until the people You have purchased pass over. 17You shall bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which You have made for You to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O LORD, which Your hands have established. 18The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.”

19For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the Israelites went on dry land in the middle of the sea.”

20And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women followed her with timbrels and with dances. 21And then Miriam sang this to them, “Sing to the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider He has thrown into the sea.”

22So Moses led Israel up from the Red Sea, and into the Desert of Shur; and they traveled for three days into the desert without finding water. 23And when they came to Marah, the water there was bitter, and they could not drink it; and so they called that place “Marah” (bitterness). 24And the people murmured against Moses, demanding, “What shall we drink?” 25And Moses cried unto the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, a branch of which, when he had cast it into the waters, made the waters sweet. It was there that the LORD set before them the following statute and an ordinance, as a standard to test their faithfulness to Him: 26If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, obey His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD That heals you.

27And then they came to Elim, an oasis where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees; and they camped there by the waters.
