1And the LORD said to Moses, 2“Say to the Israelites, ‘If a woman conceives, and gives birth to a son, then she shall be ceremonially unclean for seven days; just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3And on the eighth day, the son is to be circumcised. 4And then she must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred, nor enter the sanctuary, until the days of her purification are fulfilled. 5But if she gives birth to a daughter, then she shall be unclean for two weeks, as during her period: and she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding. 6And when the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son, or a daughter, she shall bring a year old lamb for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle of meeting, for a sin offering: 7The priest shall offer them before the LORD, to make atonement for her; and she shall be ceremonially cleansed from her issue of blood. This is the law for a woman that has given birth to a boy or a girl. 8And if she is not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and then she shall be clean.’”
