A Psalm or Song of Asaph, on the destruction by Sennacherib’ invading army (2Kings 19:35-37)

1We give thanks to You, O God, unto You do we give praise; for Your name is near; and we tell of Your wondrous works. 2 You say, I shall choose the set time, and receive the congregation when I will judge uprightly. 3When the earth and all its inhabitants quake, it is I Who bears up (supports) its pillars.” Selah.

4I said to the arrogant, Be not boastful; and to the wicked, Do not raise your horn in self-glorification; 5Do not lift it on high; do not speak with insolent pride. 6For no one - from the east, the west, nor from the south – can exalt themselves.

7But it is God Who judges; He puts down one, and lifts up another. 8For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup of foaming wine, fully mixed with spices; and He pours it out in judgment; and all the wicked of the earth shall drink and drain the dregs of it. 9But as for me. I will proclaim forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. 10 For God says, All the horns of the wicked will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
