One of his auditors asked: "Is it then really true that God has so loved you and us that He gave His only begotten Son for us?" Nott stedfastly affirmed that the gospel which he was preaching was really true; upon which the Tahitian cried out: "Oh, and thou canst speak of such love without tears!" — himself weeping from shame and joy.
