The Advantages of a Religious Life
Proverbs 4:18
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more to the perfect day.


I. THE CERTAINTY AND EVIDENCE AFFORDED BY A RELIGIOUS LIFE. Its subject is sure that it is the path of God's commandment. He sees that it is the path of life.

II. THE BEAUTY AND EXCELLENCE OF A HOLY LIFE.

III. THE PLEASANTNESS OF A HOLY LIFE.

1. Pleasures of action.

2. Pleasures of reflection.

3. Pleasures of hope.

IV. ITS INSTRUCTIVENESS.

V. ITS PROGRESSIVE NATURE. The good man improves —

1. In knowledge of Divine things.

2. In the adhesion of his will to Divine things.

3. In the perfection of his example.

4. In the ease and pleasure of well-doing.

VI. IT WILL AT LAST ISSUE IN CONSUMMATE PERFECTION — a perfection of holiness and happiness.
