Self-Denial is the Sign of a Christian
Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

The devil once met a Christian man, and said, "Thou sayest, 'I am a servant of God.' What doest thou more than I do? You say that you fast; so do I. I neither eat nor drink." He went through a whole list of sins, of which he said he was clear; but at last the Christian said, "I do one thing thou never didst, I deny myself." There was the point in which the Christian came out.

(C. H. Spurgeon.)
