Christ's Sufferings
1 Peter 4:1-6
For as much then as Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind…


I. CHRIST SUFFERED IN HUMAN NATURE. His sufferings in the flesh were —

1. Great, corporeal, social, mediatorial.

2. Ignominious. Poverty, obloquy, persecution, crucifixion.

II. CHRIST SUFFERED FOR MEN.

III. CHRIST SUFFERED WITH A SPIRIT WHICH MEN SHOULD CULTIVATE.

1. Profoundly religious.

2. Self denyingly philanthropic.

IV. THE POSSESSION OF THIS SPIRIT IS THE POWER TO DELIVER US FROM MORAL EVIL.
