A Hope of Liberty
Philemon 1:22
But with prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given to you.

A thought concerning himself, introduced here not for the sake of himself, but because, as he adds, they prayed to God that his presence might be vouchsafed to them, not only for their personal gratification, but that he might impart to them some spiritual gift as an apostle (Romans 1:11; cf. Philippians 1:25; Philippians 2:24), where a similar hope of liberation is expressed.

(Bp. Chris. Wordsworth.)

Parallel Verses
