Homilist Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid to his fathers, and saw corruption: I. THE PRINCIPLE OF GREATNESS — To benefit others. II. THE PRINCIPLE OF SUCCESS — working in accordance with the will of God. Philanthropists may effect a temporary reformation. Philosophy may awaken thought. But only he who works out earthly information in the light of Divine revelation can benefit his generation. III. THE PRINCIPLE OF DESTINY. By benefiting his generation — 1. David benefited the world in all ages. 2. Promoted his own eternal salvation; and — 3. Glorified God. (Homilist.)
