The fool says in his heart, "There's no God." They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good.1For the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good.
The LORD looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God.2The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one.3All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Will evildoers never understand? They consume my people as they consume bread; they do not call on the LORD.4Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They devour my people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD.
Then they will be filled with dread, for God is with those who are righteous.5There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is in the company of the righteous.
You sinners frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD is his refuge.6You sinners frustrate the plans of the oppressed, yet the LORD is their shelter.
Oh, that Israel's deliverance would come from Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.7Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!
