Ezekiel 42
HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
Then the man led me out by way of the north gate into the outer court. He brought me to the group of chambers opposite the temple yard and opposite the building to the north. 1Then he led me out into the outer court, toward the north, and he brought me to the chambers that were opposite the separate yard and opposite the building on the north.
Along the length of the chambers, which was 175 feet, there was an entrance on the north; the width was 87 1/2 feet.2The length of the building whose door faced north was a hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty cubits.
Opposite the 35 foot space belonging to the inner court and opposite the paved surface belonging to the outer court, the structure rose gallery by gallery in three tiers.3Facing the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court, and facing the pavement that belonged to the outer court, was gallery against gallery in three stories.
In front of the chambers was a walkway toward the inside, 17 1/2 feet wide and 175 feet long, and their entrances were on the north. 4And before the chambers was a passage inward, ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long, and their doors were on the north.
The upper chambers were narrower because the galleries took away more space from them than from the lower and middle stories of the building. 5Now the upper chambers were narrower, for the galleries took more away from them than from the lower and middle chambers of the building.
For they were arranged in three stories and had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore the upper chambers were set back from the ground more than the lower and middle stories.6For they were in three stories, and they had no pillars like the pillars of the courts. Thus the upper chambers were set back from the ground more than the lower and the middle ones.
A wall on the outside ran in front of the chambers, parallel to them, toward the outer court; it was 87 1/2 feet long. 7And there was a wall outside parallel to the chambers, toward the outer court, opposite the chambers, fifty cubits long.
For the chambers on the outer court were 87 1/2 feet long, while those facing the great hall were 175 feet long.8For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those opposite the nave were a hundred cubits long.
At the base of these chambers there was an entryway on the east side as one enters them from the outer court. 9Below these chambers was an entrance on the east side, as one enters them from the outer court.
In the thickness of the wall of the court toward the south, there were chambers facing the temple yard and the western building, 10In the thickness of the wall of the court, on the south also, opposite the yard and opposite the building, there were chambers
with a passageway in front of them, just like the chambers that faced north. Their length and width, as well as all their exits, measurements, and entrances, were identical.11with a passage in front of them. They were similar to the chambers on the north, of the same length and breadth, with the same exits and arrangements and doors,
The entrance at the beginning of the passageway, the way in front of the corresponding wall as one enters on the east side, was similar to the entrances of the chambers that were on the south side. 12as were the entrances of the chambers on the south. There was an entrance at the beginning of the passage, the passage before the corresponding wall on the east as one enters them.
Then the man said to me, "The northern and southern chambers that face the temple yard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will deposit the most holy offerings--the grain offerings, sin offerings, and restitution offerings--for the place is holy.13Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers opposite the yard are the holy chambers, where the priests who approach the LORD shall eat the most holy offerings. There they shall put the most holy offerings—the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering—for the place is holy.
Once the priests have entered, they must not go out from the holy area to the outer court until they have removed the clothes they minister in, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the public area." 14When the priests enter the Holy Place, they shall not go out of it into the outer court without laying there the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They shall put on other garments before they go near to that which is for the people.”
When he finished measuring inside the temple complex, he led me out by way of the gate that faced east and measured all around the complex. 15Now when he had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and measured the temple area all around.
He measured the east side with a measuring rod; it was 875 feet by the measuring rod. 16He measured the east side with the measuring reed, 500 cubits by the measuring reed all around.
He measured the north side; it was 875 feet by the measuring rod. 17He measured the north side, 500 cubits by the measuring reed all around.
He measured the south side; it was 875 feet by the measuring rod. 18He measured the south side, 500 cubits by the measuring reed.
Then he turned to the west side and measured 875 feet by the measuring rod. 19Then he turned to the west side and measured, 500 cubits by the measuring reed.
He measured the temple complex on all four sides. It had a wall all around it, 875 feet long and 875 feet wide, to separate the holy from the common. 20He measured it on the four sides. It had a wall around it, 500 cubits long and 500 cubits broad, to make a separation between the holy and the common.
