Psalm 4
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
1For the music director, to be accompanied by stringed instruments; a psalm of David. When I call out, answer me, O God who vindicates me! Though I am hemmed in, you will lead me into a wide, open place. Have mercy on me and respond to my prayer! 1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2You men, how long will you try to turn my honor into shame? How long will you love what is worthless and search for what is deceptive? (Selah) 2O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
3Realize that the LORD shows the godly special favor; the LORD responds when I cry out to him. 3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.
4Tremble with fear and do not sin! Meditate as you lie in bed, and repent of your ways! (Selah) 4Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
5Offer the prescribed sacrifices and trust in the LORD! 5Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
6Many say, "Who can show us anything good?" Smile upon us, LORD! 6There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!”
7You make me happier than those who have abundant grain and wine. 7You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8I will lie down and sleep peacefully, for you, LORD, make me safe and secure. 8In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
