Abijam Reigns in Judah
(2 Chronicles 13:1–3)

1And in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king over Judah. 2He reigned in Jerusalem three years. And the name of his mother was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

3And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before his face, and his heart was not complete with YHWH his God as was the heart of David his father. 4Nevertheless, for the sake of David, YHWH his God gave to him a lamp in Jerusalem, by setting up his son after him, and by establishing Jerusalem, 5in that David did right in the eyes of YHWH and did not turn aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life—except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

And there was war between Rehoboam and between Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7And the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and between Jeroboam.

8And Abijam rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. And Asa his son reigned in his place.

Asa Reigns in Judah
(2 Chronicles 14:1–15; 2 Chronicles 15:8–19)

9And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign as king of Judah. 10And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Maacah daughter of Abishalom.

11And Asa did right in the eyes of YHWH, like David his father. 12And he banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land, and he removed all the idols that his fathers had made. 13And he removed Maacah his mother as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive image of Asherah. And Asa cut down the repulsive image and burned it in the Valley of Kidron.

14And the high places were not removed; nevertheless the heart of Asa was completely with YHWH all his days. 15And He brought the dedicated things of his father and the dedicated things for the house of YHWH, silver, and gold, and vessels.

War between Asa and Baasha
(2 Chronicles 16:1–6)

16And war there was between Asa and between Baasha king of Israel all their days. 17And Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and he built up Ramah, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

18And Asa took all the silver and the gold that remained in the treasuries of the house of YHWH and the treasuries of the house of the king, and he gave them into the hand of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, King of Aram, who dwelt in Damascus, saying, 19“a covenant be between me and between you, as there was between my father and between your father. Behold, I have sent to you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will go up from me.”

20And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa, and he sent the captains of the armies who were unto him against the cities of Israel. And he struck Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinnereth, besides all the land of Naphtali.

21And it came to pass when Baasha heard it, that he stopped building Ramah, and he dwelt in Tirzah. 22And King Asa caused to hear all of Judah— none was exempt—and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timbers that Baasha had used for building, and King Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

Jehoshaphat Succeeds Asa
(2 Chronicles 17:1–19)

23And the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days of the Kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age, he was diseased in his feet.

24And Asa rested with his fathers, and he was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place.

Nadab Reigns in Israel

25And Nadab son of Jeroboam became king over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. 26And he did evil in the eyes of YHWH, and he walked in the way of his father and in his sin, by which he had caused Israel to sin.

27And Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him, and Baasha struck him down at Gibbethon, which was of the Philistines. And Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon. 28And Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned in his place.

29And it came to pass in his reigning that he struck down all the house of Jeroboam. He did not leave anyone that breathed to Jeroboam, until He had destroyed him according to the word of YHWH that He had spoken by His servant Ahijah the Shilonite, 30on account of the sins of Jeroboam that he had sinned and by which he had caused Israel to sin by his provocation with which he provoked to anger YHWH, God of Israel.

31And the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days of the Kings of Israel? And there was war between Asa and between Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Baasha Reigns in Israel

33In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king over all Israel in Tirzah, for twenty-four years.

34And he did evil in the eyes of YHWH, and he walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, by which he had caused Israel to sin.
