Ezekiel’s Call 1And He said to me: “Son of man,† stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.” 2And the Spirit came into me as He spoke to me and set me on my feet, and I heard the One speaking to me. 3And He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me until this very day. 4And the sons are hard of face and strong of heart; to them I am sending you, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord YHWH.’ 5And they, whether they hear, or whether they refuse—for they are a rebellious house—they will know that a prophet has been among them. 6And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or of their words; do not be afraid—if briers and thorns are with you and among you scorpions are sitting!—Of their words, and do not be afraid of their faces, and do not be dismayed, for they are a rebellious house. 7And you shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse—for they are rebellious. 8And you, son of man, you must hear what I am going to say to you: Do not come to be rebellious like this house of rebellion! Open your mouth and eat what I am giving to you.” 9And I looked, and behold, a hand was stretched out to me, and behold, in it was a scroll of a book. 10And He spread it out before my face, and it was written on the face and on the back; and written on it were lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
